Community communication is more than sharing announcements. When residents can easily find information, stay informed about neighborhood decisions, and discover ways to participate, digital communication becomes part of the infrastructure of a thriving community.

That idea has guided Revive Black®'s partnership with the Bond Hill Community Council as we work together to strengthen how the neighborhood communicates and connects with residents.

Building a Stronger Digital Foundation

Our work began by helping Bond Hill strengthen its digital presence through a redesigned community website that provides residents with a centralized place to access neighborhood news, meeting information, community resources, events, and opportunities to get involved.

But launching a website was only the beginning.

Revive Black also helped coordinate and deploy Bond Hill's monthly digital newsletter, creating a consistent communications system that brings community information directly to residents rather than requiring residents to search for it.

The results demonstrate the value of that approach.

During a recent reporting period, Bond Hill's digital communications generated 127 website sessions and seven leads, with residents reaching the website through organic search, direct traffic, referrals, and email marketing. Email proved particularly effective at driving meaningful engagement: newsletter campaigns achieved open rates of approximately 34–36% and click rates as high as 9.6%, while visitors arriving through email spent an average of 2 minutes and 5 seconds on the website—the longest average visit of any traffic source.

Across the email campaigns we recently analyzed, community communications also generated more than 6,000 successful email deliveries and 550 unique clicks, demonstrating that residents aren't simply receiving information—they're engaging with it.

Digital Communication as Community Infrastructure

For Revive Black, these numbers represent more than website traffic.

They show what can happen when a neighborhood has the digital infrastructure to communicate consistently with its residents.

A website creates a destination. A newsletter creates a connection. Together, they create an ongoing communications ecosystem that can help residents learn about meetings, discover resources, participate in neighborhood activities, and stay connected to the decisions affecting their community.

This is the work behind Revive Black's Community Digital Response Model: helping communities build sustainable systems that increase access to information and strengthen participation.

Because a connected community isn't simply one with internet access.

It's a community where people can find the information they need, understand what's happening around them, and have meaningful opportunities to participate.
