Building Digital Capacity in Roselawn — One Resident and One System at a Time

Digital transformation doesn't always begin with new technology.

Sometimes, it begins with helping a community organization make better use of the tools it already has.

Through our partnership with the Roselawn Community Council, Revive Black® has worked to strengthen both sides of digital equity: helping the organization improve its digital infrastructure while helping community leaders build the confidence and skills to manage that infrastructure themselves.

Making Community Participation More Accessible

Revive Black helped strengthen Roselawn's online presence and expand the ways residents can interact with their Community Council.

One important improvement was creating the ability for residents to complete and pay for community memberships online, removing a traditional barrier to participation and making it easier for residents to support and engage with their neighborhood organization.

The strengthened digital presence has also created more opportunities for residents to discover Roselawn Community Council online, access information, and connect with neighborhood resources.

But technology is only sustainable when people know how to use it.

That's where Revive Black's Digital Leap Accelerator became an important part of the partnership.

Building Confidence Behind the Screen

Through the Accelerator, Revive Black worked directly with aging residents and community leaders to strengthen practical digital skills they could immediately apply to their work.

Participants received hands-on guidance using Google Workspace, organizing and managing digital files, navigating online platforms, understanding the backend of their community website, and exploring introductory artificial intelligence tools.

Rather than simply managing technology for the organization, Revive Black focused on helping community leaders become more confident managing technology themselves.

That distinction matters.

Digital equity isn't achieved simply by giving an organization a website or introducing residents to a new application. Sustainable digital equity requires building the knowledge, systems, and confidence that allow communities to use technology independently.
